Carolyn's musical training is in classical piano, studying at the Vancouver Academy of Music under the direction of Lee Kum-Sing. She obtained her Performer's ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music in 1998 and her Performer's Certificate from the Vancouver Academy of Music in 2000. Since that time, she has had the opportunity to perform solo and chamber recitals in Canada, USA, Holland, and Italy. Over the years, she has become a regular accompanist to many fine instrumentalists, singers, and choirs - where she would have the opportunity to be rehearsal pianist and substitute singer when needed.
Throughout medical school, she kept herself sane by singing with Onoscatopoeia - a jazz a cappella chamber ensemble at the University of Toronto where she was assistant conductor, recording producer, and vocal jazz arranger. Many of her arrangements are still sung today by multiple groups throughout North America.
Carolyn has returned home to Vancouver as a staff pathologist at Royal Columbian Hospital, and as a clinical member of the Faculty of Medicine at UBC. She is excited to have found the Phoenix family to keep music as part of her life.
