The Phoenix Choral Experience
The Phoenix Choral Experience is a full day choral education workshop for high school choral directors and their students. Our next event will take place at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Vancouver, B.C. on February 13th, 2016. Students and conductors from up to 5 high schools and the full Phoenix Chamber Choir will participate in the workshop.
The Phoenix Choral Experience, launched in late January 2015, aims to bring together up to 5 local high school choral directors, each with up to an octet of students, to attend a workshop with our Artistic Director, Graeme Langager and Phoenix Chamber Choir. Through the course of a full day of interaction, the youth in attendance will have the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by the Phoenix choir members, while their directors will each have the opportunity to conduct the assembled choir, and receive coaching and feedback from Dr. Langager. The workshop will give teachers a jumpstart on perfecting their repertoire, and the students will be encouraged to be choral leaders upon return to the classroom. Individual high school students will also have the opportunity of private workshops one-on-one with a Phoenix member on singing technique. The day will end with a performance of the choral works that were worked on throughout the workshop.
The Phoenix Chamber Choir is commited to promoting choral music through its outreach and educational programming. We also offer a Young Composers Reading session once a year. Young composers can submit thier scores to be read and evalued by Phoenix Chamber Choir in the spring of each season. Read more here.
